Pizza has to be one of the most famous dishes in the United States from the East to West coast, and the most revered question is where you can get the best pizza. But the real question should be where did pizza come from?

The earliest version of pizza comes to us from the ancient Greeks. They enjoyed bread covered with oils, herbs, and cheese. After this, the Romans used a sheet of dough topped with cheese and honey, then flavored with bay leaves. Modern pizza began in Italy as Neapolitan flatbread, only using mozzarella cheese.

Now pizza is the most accessible food in any part of the United States and there is even a national holiday celebrating pizza! May 18th is National Pizza Party Day—join in on the fun and grab a slice at a local pizza shop.
