Ahh, the power of a Girl’s Night Out: Often underestimated, and tossed to bottom of the social calendar (under Date Nights, Family Parties, Play Dates, and Work Commitments), but oh so necessary!
Ahh, the power of a Girl’s Night Out: Often underestimated, and tossed to bottom of the social calendar (under Date Nights, Family Parties, Play Dates, and Work Commitments), but oh so necessary! In recent years, I have made an intentional effort to bring Girlfriend time BACK to the forefront of my calendar, and happiness (also, probably, laugh lines) has been a sure result!
I have an amazing group of women in my life who I am blessed to call my friends and also double as mentors, advisors, fashion police, sanseis, dietitians, confidants, parenting experts, shopping buddies, exercise buddies, kindred spirits, cheerleaders, and comediennes! It is no wonder, that I am always anxious to spend time with my girls! The way this usually happens is we hash up some plan and then I send the details out in mass to see who is free and then, voila, a G.N.O is on the calendar!
The most recent event was inspired by the current Prima Show “Guilty Pleasures”. I have been to my share of Prima Events in the last year, and am always wildly entertained. The premise of this particular show, just seemed perfectly suited to a Girls Night Out! This girl, loves herself a theme, and so the “Guilty Pleasures” G.N.O was born.
We started our night by exchanging text messages on attire. Guilty Pleasure: Getting all fancied up for a night on the town – done! We met up at Pour on Prince to feed our foodie souls! Guilty Pleasures: Bordeaux, Duckfat Fries, Calamari, Ricotta Dumplings, Charcuterie Board, and not having to make ONE decision, but ordering as many plates as would fit on our table, following our whims, sharing it all and stopping only when we were full.
I can not give enough kudos to the way Pour handles their food and wine in such a way that the dinner is an enjoyable, relaxing, and delectable experience that feels luxurious from start to finish! We talked and laughed, ate and drank until someone looked at the clock and realized we were in danger of missing our show, so we settled the bill and rushed off to our next stop: Michael’s Motor Car Garage for the Guilty Pleasures Prima Concert. We did arrive late (and giggling), but were ushered in to our VIP seats, front and center upon arrival. Once we were settled in, we spent the next hour singing along to every song, belting out the lyrics to every number from “Bohemian Rhapsody”, to “Hit Me Baby One More Time”.
We laughed and danced, held our breath a little for a stirring rendition of Unchained Melody and were dismayed when it was all over. We finished our night by ordering most of the desserts on the menu at Iron Hill Brewery, and finishing our girl talk and laughter over some late night coffee and shared sweets (The Meyer Lemon Pie was my favorite of the last stop, late night Guilty Pleasures).
Although the Guilty Pleasures Show has run its course, there are more events coming up with Prima and various other Arts Contributors in Lancaster. There is no shortage of amazing places to break bread and tell stories and share an experience with your girlfriends or other people you love! I have 3 more G.N.O’s on my calendar, what plans do you have on yours?
