On Thursday, I had the luxury of attending the Fire & Ice Masquerade Affair. I first heard about the Fire & Ice Masquerade Affair from the event organizer, Annie Diaz, who had organized the event with her company Etcétera LLC. The masquerade took place at Altana Rooftop Lounge in downtown Lancaster, which proved to be a great location for the event. I had never attended a masquerade, so I had to check it out for myself and it did not disappoint.

Upon arriving, I couldn’t help but notice someone dancing in a bright, flowy, light blue dress with lights. The dancer’s name was Nova, and I spoke with her briefly. She said she was like a human decoration! She represented the “Ice” for the evening. The “Fire” was represented by performer Krystal Younglove, The Indestructible Lady, who first appeared 10ft tall, but suddenly became much shorter and literally played with fire. Both of them brought energy to the night with amazing performances. And with that, we were officially in full party mode!

The musical entertainment consisted of DJ Orlando and the live band, Mama Tried, who brought some big dance energy to the building! I’m not much of a dancer myself, so I tended to stay in conversation with others and spent more time with hors d’oeuvres and specialty cocktail Fire & Ice drinks. At one point it was difficult to even cross the room as everyone formed a giant dance circle. While I managed to move around the room from time to time, the masks could not hide everyone’s sheer level of enjoyment! It was definitely a blast and a great inaugural event of what is planned to be annual, and I’m looking forward to attending again next year!
